Palm Beach Symphony Names Kewan Smith First Director of Development

Kewan Smith has been named as Palm Beach Symphony‘s first-ever Director of Development, according to an announcement sent out by the organization Wednesday. As Director of Development, Smith is responsible for leading the Symphony’s strategic plan and driving donor solicitations.
“I am so grateful to have received such a warm welcome from my Palm Beach Symphony colleagues, Board of Directors, trustees and supporters,” Smith said. “I look forward to our upcoming season and contributing to the Symphony’s bright future.”
An accomplished fundraising executive, Smith brings more than 20 years of experience to the Palm Beach Symphony. He most recently served as Senior Director of Individual and Corporate Giving for New World Symphony in Miami Beach, where he led strategic initiatives to secure individual and corporate support for fellowships, performances and community programs, working closely with key philanthropic partners and donors to raise more than $1 million for the annual fund and $500,000 in contributions for the annual gala.
Smith has an extensive background in the arts and philanthropy, overseeing national fundraising, marketing and advertising campaigns, and developing regional partnerships for Macy’s that resulted in millions of dollars for March of Dimes and Make-A-Wish Foundation, among others.
He earned his MBA from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and a BA in Business Administration from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating summa cum laude with honors from Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma and Omicron Delta Kappa. He is also a member of the Sphinx Organization’s LEAD Cohort 4 and Engage for Good, demonstrating his passion and unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference through philanthropy.
“As Palm Beach Symphony grows at an accelerated rate, we found it essential to add a Director of Development to our team who will fuel our growth,” said Palm Beach Symphony CEO David McClymont. “Kewan has the experience, leadership and passion to lead our fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation as we continue to bring our mission to engage, educate and entertain the greater Palm Beaches community to life.”
