After some serious ups and down, including three television shows, a marriage and a major split, Hamptonite Bethenny Frankel is returning to where her career in the public eye began. The reality star and Skinny Girl mogul left Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York City for after Season 3, but now she’s back for Season 7, premiering on Tuesday, April 7 at 9 p.m.
To mark the occasion, Frankel sat down with Bravo executive and fellow East Ender Andy Cohen for a special, one-on-one Watch What Happens Live interview on Sunday. Responding to Cohen’s prompts about her “failures,” among other things, Frankel talked about leaving RHONY, her difficult divorce from hubby Jason Hoppy, which still hasn’t been finalized, and her talk show Bethenny, which was canceled after one season.
“There was a point when I was a little embarrassed to be a housewife, I felt like it was a little, something to not be proud of,” Frankel said, explaining why she left RHONY in 2010, but added that the dynamic has changed, “Now coming back I feel I’m proud to do it again and I feel it is a different show…It seems honest, it seems real…”
As for her marriage, Frankel shocked fans with her declaration, “I will never get legally married again.” The returning housewife said that while she’ll never be an actual wife again, she’s not closed off to love—it just won’t be committed by contract—and she’s even dating. Most recently, Frankel was romantically linked to financier Michael Cerussi III, but People.com reported on Tuesday that the couple has split. It may be just as well since Frankel is currently promoting her upcoming romance advice book, I Suck at Relationships So You Don’t Have To: 10 Rules for Not Screwing Up Your Happily Ever After, which hits bookstores on April 7—the same day Real Housewives of New York City Season 7 premieres.
