“The positive effects of love on the brain are the feelings associated with oxytocin and dopamine production that can actually help improve one’s mood. Supposedly love can also bolster immune systems and lower blood pressure. And then there is the color red that has been discovered to have a stimulating effect on visual activity and autonomic nervous system functions. Perhaps that is why red is always associated with love. So, what does all this have to do with our exhibit, LOVE ON THE BRAIN? Everything. Mixed Media in hues of red with iconic subjects. Digital sculptures of longing and beauty. Nostalgic imagery of nascent love. Celebratory works of roses and champagne. The best part, you don’t have to be in love to experience LOVE ON THE BRAIN because studies have
shown that just looking at art increases the blood flow to the brain by as much as 10%. As the famous textile artist, Anni Albers, said, “Art is something that makes you breathe with a different kind of happiness.” Even with a mask. Andrea McCafferty & Kat O’Neill
