Bridgehampton resident Sarah Jessica Parker has been spotted in character as Carrie Bradshaw while filming her upcoming Sex and the City reboot for HBO Max, And Just Like That…, in New York City.

Just Jared reported Parker filming a picnic scene in Rockefeller Park in Battery Park City this past Monday, September 20 with costars Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), but it’s hardly the first time fans have caught a glimpse of the show being made. Gossip hounds have shared photos and video of shoots all over Manhattan as well as Brooklyn since production began in early July.

According to a July 9 announcement about the production, the show offers a new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series as Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte “navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.” Hamptonite Kim Cattrall, who played the scene-stealing Samantha Jones, bowed out of joining the cast, explaining that she had bad blood with her costars.

The new series, which is slated for release this year, will feature 10 30-minute episodes. A very brief teaser was released on Tuesday, September 21.

Other announced cast include returning regulars Chris Noth (Mr. Big), Mario Cantone (Anthony Marantino), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt) and Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch), as well as newcomer Sara Ramírez, who will play Che Diaz. THR says Ramirez’s character is “a nonbinary, queer stand-up comedian who hosts a podcast on which Carrie is regularly featured.”

Nicole Ari Parker replaces Cattrall as the fourth member of Carrie’s core friend group. Her character, Lisa Todd Wexley, is a documentary filmmaker and mother of three living on Park Avenue.

Sadly, SJP’s longtime Sex and the City costar Willie Garson, who played Carrie Bradshaw’s pal Stanford Blatch, died of cancer at the young age of 57 just two days later on Wednesday, September 22. Deadline reports that Garson stars in And Just Like That… and was filming all the way up to the weeks preceding his death. His character appeared in 27 episodes of the original show’s six seasons, from 1998–2004. Parker and her costars—even Cattrall—shared their grief on Instagram and sent well wishes to Garson’s son Nathan this week.

Additional new cast members include: Cathy Ang as Lily Goldenblatt, Niall Cunningham as Brady Hobbes, Alexa Swinton as Rose Goldenblatt and Cree Ciccino as Brady’s girlfriend, Luisa Torres.
